WE are fast approaching the latter stages of the World Snooker Championship 2024 – and Ronnie O’Sullivan is hoping he will be there.

The Rocket is currently locked in a thrilling battle with Ryan Day where he leads 5-3 going into the evening session.

John Higgins and Mark Allen resume their mouthwatering tie which got interrupted at 4-4 on Saturday.

While reigning champion Luca Brucel’s shock first-round exit means that there is guaranteed to be a new King of the Crucible this year.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 5-3 Ryan Day AND THAT IS THE MORNING SESSION COMPLETE!

It wasn’t the smoothest of performances from The Rocket in his last-16 encounter but he is still in the lead.

All to play for this evening.

  • Stephen Maguire has done it! Scotsman Stephen Maguire has sent Shaun Murphy crashing out of the World Snooker Championship.

Maguire fought hard to maintain his lead over the 25 frames.

And in the end, the Scottish star won the match 13-9.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 4-3 Ryan Day The Rocket certainly isn’t having it his own way as Ryan Day won’t lie down without a fight.

The Welshman fell behind in the frame before turning it around and closing the gap to just one.

Something tells me that this game could go all the way to the wire this evening.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 4-2 Ryan Day And just like that, The Rocket has lift off as he has taken another two frame lead.

    This was complete annihilation.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 3-2 Ryan Day Ronnie’s BACK in business!

O’Sullivan has come back from the break with a chip on his shoulder as he races to a third frame win.

The Rocket is aware that there isn’t much room for error after seeing Day equal the score earlier.

  • Scores on the doors Steven Maguire is currently 12-8 up against Shaun Murphy in what is turning out to be a thrilling contest.

Murphy is running out of time to turn this encounter around as the players enter frame 21.

But stranger things have happened so the Englishman shouldn’t be written off yet.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 2-2 Ryan Day AND ITS ALL LEVEL!

In what looked like a match that Ronnie was going to run away with, Day has brought it back to 2-2 out of nowhere!

Admittedly, the Rocket seems as if he got a bit complacent and is now paying the price.

Plenty still to play for in this one.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 2-1 Ryan Day Well that’s a spanner in the works – Ronnie is human after all.

A couple of sloppy shots from O’Sullivan has cost him this frame with Day capitalising.

We have a right match on our hands now!

  • The Rocket ship Ronnie O’Sullivan has steamed into a 2-0 lead and there seems to be so much more left in the tank for The Rocket.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 2-0 Ryan Day Ronnie is starting to have fun out there as he makes it 2-0.

The Rocket wasn’t able to hit a century this time round but he did what was necessary to get the frame.

This could be another beat down, similar to Jackson Page.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 1-0 Ryan Day The Rocket is full of fuel as he makes a quick start to go 1-0 up in this last-16 encounter.

O’Sullivan had quite a slow start to the match as he missed his first couple of shots.

But the seven-time title winner quickly clicked into gear and he went on to secure a century before taking the first frame.

  • Ronnie O’Sullivan 0-0 Ryan Day O’Sullivan gets the first session of the morning underway.

The Rocket is four wins away from securing an eighth World Championship title.

But Welshman Ryan Day has other plans.

  • Here we go! The crowd goes wild as snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan makes his way to the table for what is expected to be a thrilling contest against Ryan Day.

  • Welcome BACK to the World Championship 2024 This is SunSport’s fresh coverage of the World Championship 2024 and there is no better way to kick it off with Ronnie O’Sullivan in action.

The Rocket is all set to take on Welshman Ryan Day with a spot in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

And O’Sullivan will be expected to seal his place in the last-8 following his demolition on Jackson Page during the opening rounds.

However, Day knows what it takes to overcome a huge battle as he pipped Barry Hawkins to a 10-8 win to get here.

So don’t go anywhere snooker lovers because this will be good and the match starts at 10am BST.
